Your own address
The picture: Address in the phone book
What it's about
Your page can already be reached at yourname.aufwind.sh. With your own domain it gets an address that belongs to you and that you take with you when you move. The phone book of the internet (DNS) tells everyone which building this address lives in.
What you'll learn
- what a domain, a registrar and DNS are
- who owns the address and what rights you have as its owner
- which entries belong in the phone book and what they mean
- how a TXT entry proves that the address is yours
- where the padlock symbol in the browser comes from
How you go about it
- Collect names with your AI and check at Albatros which ones are free.
- Buy the address: through Albatros, then you are the owner yourself and Albatros puts everything into the phone book. Or with a registrar of your choice.
- If you bought it elsewhere: tell Albatros which address it is and set the entries at the registrar.
- Wait until the phone book has been reprinted, and check.
Done when
https://<deine-domain>shows your page with the padlock symbol.
How Albatros can tell it worked
- The address https://{domain} answers.
